Negative: Before the stay: The deposit (ad was since updated): No mention of £500 safety deposit on the advertisement. Once booked, you are notified that you must pay the deposit before check-in instructions will be sent to you. As the booking is nonrefundable, you have very few options to deal with this surprise. My entire stay was only £500 so I had to pay double up front which is non-standard vs a hotel. During the stay: Amenities: I arrived late after a long day of travel and the property had no toilet paper and no soap. Due to the time, no shops were open which made the first night very uncomfortable. When I raised this to the property, they simply said they would reimburse me the money to buy my own toilet paper and soap which ignores the inconvenience, given the price point of the property. The property also confirmed prior to arrival that a washing machine was available to use but this was also broken. The advertisement also specified air conditioning which was not available. When I raised this, the property appeared to update the advertisement to correct this and said this was not something offered. After the stay: It took the property nearly 3 weeks to refund the £500. If you put this on a credit card, like I did, you pay nearly a month’s worth of interest on this amount. Again, versus a standard hotel, this amount would be refunded right away once it was confirmed that nothing was broken or stolen - check that would need to be completed prior to the next guest checking in, in any case.
